Heritage Quilts

Four members of the Story County Genealogical Society volunteered today at the Iowa Genealogical Society (IGS) in Des Moines.   It’s always fun to spend time at IGS and help patrons explore their ancestry.

One of the highlights of the day was a display of quilts called “Tales These Quilts Could Tell.”  Two members of our local society displayed these heritage items.

Left: Silk delegate badges from the Women’s Relief Corp sewn into a quilt. (This was recently filmed for a possible showing on Antiques Roadshow.)

Below: Sunburst pattern quilt that was over 70 years in the making.  (Good things just take time!)
