Three genealogy things that make me happy: finding another set of ancestors (or solving a brick wall); researching requests received through our local genealogy society; … and discovering new genealogy publications.
Today was a two of three day! The first was having great success researching for a person who had ancestors in Ames, Iowa, many years ago. Ancestry.com and resources at the public library provided lots of excellent information. And who would have realized old city directories and high school yearbooks could be so valuable!
On the way out the door I checked the new books and discovered The Troubleshooter’s Guide to Do-It-Yourself Genealogy by W. Daniel Quillen. What an enticing title! It is definitely next on my reading list.
Here’s one family history researcher who is saying, “It was a very good day.” And the fact these moments can be rare make them all that much more precious!
