One Brave Flower

Central Iowa, indeed much of the Midwest, is in the midst of record-setting high temperatures and very dry weather conditions. All of this has taken a toll on my flowers, despite frequent watering.

But in the midst of very unfavorable conditions, today I noticed this one, lonely Petunia. I don’t remember planting it. Perhaps it is a volunteer from another source. Regardless, this solitary blossom seems like a brave little flower.
